UPDATE 1/20/10:
The County has finally posted the RFP for bids on the track. Jim
WILL BE submitting a proposal as he has indicated all along. The
RFP is open for bids until February 5th, and then the county will review
all of them and hopefully award the bid by the 2nd week in February.
If any of you know of anyone who may be interested in becoming a sponsor at the track, please pass the information along to Jim so he can follow up. As expected with the tough economy, sponsors are difficult to find but still very necessary to the viability of the track. Please pass any contacts/leads on to Jim at manager@championraceway.com.
Jim is still working with the County to secure the lease on the track - discussions are in process. As soon as there is definitive information to report we'll post it here. In the hopes that these discussions will be successful, Jim will be attending the NHRA track owners meeting to represent Champion. (updated 12/4/09)
Update 12/30/09:
Still having discussions with the county. The RFP is supposed to
be posted within the week.
As indicated before, we will be putting in a formal response to the RFP and continue to be hopeful that we'll be successful in retaining the lease.
As a follow up to the information shared at the banquet, Jim wanted to let all of you know that he is working on putting together a plan and information to go back to the county with. He is asking that none of you go directly to the commissioners or the meetings until he is ready with his plan and information. That will ensure that nothing jeopardizes the work he is doing to salvage the current situation.
He will keep you advised as things progress, so check back as the information will be posted as soon as it's available. He appreciates your support and is doing what he can to keep the track alive and viable for us all.
