Friday Night Drags

The Friday night drags program is designed to accommodate competitive racing primarily in street legal cars.  All classes are run on a .500 Full Tree (including Hot Rod).  It's a fun, lower key event, where racers can still compete for season points if they choose to.  Competing for season points will require signing up for points and paying the one time ($10) fee.  At that time you will be issued a permanent car number (unless you have an NHRA ET competition number, in which case you will use that number).  All classes and requirements are governed by the current NHRA Rulebook.

The winner and runner-up at each race, in each class, will receive a trophy.

Points are earned as follows:  Tech Card - 10 points; Winner - 10 points; Runner Up - 5 points

In addition, those competitors who lose in the first round may compete in the "Street Eliminator" program.  This class is based on rounds won per event -- you cannot be eliminated. Each participants wins and losses are tracked, and the participant with the most wins at the end of the event is the winner.  For those racers that want to put some money on the line, you can pay $10 in the staging lanes (this is not required).  100% of the cash collected in this purse will be paid out -- 75% to the winner, 25% to the runner up.  Only those racers that paid into the purse are eligible to win the cash.

The Land of the Leaders Challenge is a 4 race "series within a series".  Four of the E.T. Championship Series races are designated for the Land of the Leaders Challenge.  NHRA requires that you have a current NHRA ET competition number & membership to participate in the challenge, and you must be using this number at the event (using a track issued number will not qualify).  The Northwest Division office will award points  for these races as follows:  Win - 85 points, Runner-up - 64 points, Semis - 43 points, Quarters - 32 points.  Five rounds must be completed to receive full points.  The driver with the greatest number of points in Division 6 will be rewarded at the NHRA awards ceremony in December.

Second Chance Eliminator is a new program for 2006 which will be open for all 1st round losers.  The entry fee is $10, and 100% of the purse collected will be paid out -- 75% to the winner, 25% to the runner-up.  As with the Friday Night Street Eliminator program, the class is based on rounds won per event -- you cannot be eliminated.  Each participant's wins and losses are tracked, and the participant with the most wins at the end of the event is the winner.

National Dragster Challenge.  All drivers who compete in at least one E.T. Championship Series race will be invited to race in this event.  Winners in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, and Motorcycle at this event will each receive a special edition NHRA Wally.

King of the Track.  The King of the Track competition pits the top two racers in each category (excluding Jr. Dragster & High School) in a run-off to see who takes the top honors, along with the special "King of the Track Wally".  The King of the Track competition will take place at a non-points ET race following the completion of the 8 race points series.

NHRA Division 6 Summit E.T. Finals.  Woodburn Dragstrip will be hosting the Summit E.T. finals this year.  With the success of the team in 2006, we are hoping to again field a full team from Champion Raceway.   A full team consists of 56 racers; 4 in junior dragsters, 2 in High School, 2 in Sport Compact,  and the remaining 48 will be allocated among the remaining classes based on the number of racers competing in the series.  Racers with the most points will be given priority for spots on the team.  For the 2 new positions for Sport Compact, participants will be chosen based on the 2 highest point earners from our Friday Night Drags program. The Race of Champions will consist of the top 4 finishers in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle, and the top 2 in High School.
