Friday Night Points
(5/4/08)

On April 25th at our first Cascade Block Friday Night Drags race we announced that we would not be tracking points toward a class champion this year, as the cost and time to administer was not offset by a high enough participation level.  At that time, a number of you petitioned to keep this part of the program alive, and indicated that there was sufficient interest (30+ people said they wanted points) to make it worthwhile.  So, we agreed to move forward with it, with the understanding that you would all sign up for points.

Well, as of today (5/4/08) only 14 racers have signed up, with the following break-down:  Hot Rod - 3; Motorcycle - 5; Street DOT - 6.   Since we average 70+ racers on Friday night this is only a 20% participation level.

If you truly want this program to continue, you need to get your fellow racers to participate.  For those of you who are not aware, winning the points championship gives you free racer entry to the Friday Night Series the following year.  Depending on the number of races scheduled, this is worth at least $400.

We also indicated the deadline to sign up was by the race on 5/9/08.  You can sign up for points at the front gate ticket booth - ask for the form as you come in, fill it out and return it to the front gate with your $10.   So, you still have time to save this program -- get your points form turned in as soon as you come in Friday.  We will tally the number we have by the last round of time trials.  If we do not have at least double what is in so far we will not run points this year.

Track Rules & Regulations
(5/4/08)

Track Rules and Regulations have been updated in several areas.  It is important that you all read this information.  If you have questions on any of the changes, email manager@championraceway.com.  This update also addresses how bye runs will be administered.

The changes are all highlighted in red so it will be easier to see what's changed.  To access the Rules and Regulations, either click the "Track Rules" button on the home page, or use the following link: rules.

Points Sign-Ups
(4/28/08)

We will again be running points series for both our Cascade Block Friday Night Drags, and our ET Championship Series races.   Top points earners will be crowned season champions in each series, and get free admittance to all the races in  their series for the following year.  In addition, the Summit ET Finals team eligibility is set based on season points in the ET Championship Series.

If you want to run for points you need to sign up by the second race in the series.  Ask for the points signup form at the front gate, fill it out and return it to the front gate with your fee ($10 per series).  If you have questions, please contact the track manager.

Summit ET Finals - Division 6 Rules/Requirments for 2008

The following information was copied from Division 6's website -- for your information and review.

New For 2008 - Summit Racing Equipment ET Finals

Monday, January 14, 2008

The 2008 NHRA Northwest Division Summit Racing Equipment ET Finals are set for August 29-31 (Labor Day weekend) at Firebird Raceway in Boise, Idaho. Here's what's new for racers participating in the Summit Series.

Purse: Sunday's purse at the ET Finals has been increased a whopping $5000. The Super Pro winner will take home $3000 in 2008, a $1000 increase over previous years. The Pro winner will see a similar increase, earning $2500 this year. Racers in Sportsman and Motorcycle/Sled will now compete for $1000 to win each class. Runner-up and semi-final payout has also been increased in all classes.

Participation: A track must schedule a minimum of six Summit Series points events in 2008 to be eligible to send a team to the ET Finals. Racers in all classes must attend a minimum of three events at their home track to be eligible to participate at the ET Finals. Race of Champions participants must attend 50% of their track's points events to be eligible for Saturday's special event. That rule remains unchanged from previous years.

Jr. Dragster Classes: While the classes will still have the same names, racers will now be split based on age. Jr. Thunder will be for racers 8 to 12-years-old, while Jr. Lightning will be for racers 13 to 17-years-old. Should a racer have his 13th birthday after the season begins, he or she can continue to race in Jr. Thunder but must follow the ET and speed rules for that class.

Tech: The biggest change is that racers in Pro who use a trans-brake must use a NHRA-accepted trans-brake switch. For a complete list of ET Finals rules, please go to this link: http://nhradiv6.com/apcm/templates/divtech.asp?articleid=384&zoneid=28.
